About Us:
Hello, my name is Rochelle Gribler, my husband, Todd and I are owners of the Sugar-N-Spice Kennels. We've been in Arizona all of our lives and established a beautiful home and our horse care facility 23 years ago in Goodyear, Arizona.
The Sugar-N-Spice Australian Cattle Dog Kennel has been established for 13 years. Our Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) lines come from generations of kennels that are well known and very well established.
Why have AKC Registered ACD's...
I had unregistered cattle dogs/Queensland heelers for many years before they were an AKC registered breed. For many years I lived without a "heeler" and I rediscovered them as a registered breed. I wanted a purebred ACD, because of some of the mixing of other breeds into the Queensland heeler, which I was unsure of.
By owning a registered dog, you are given a world of opportunity to properly educate yourself through the AKC with breed standard guidelines and the AKC maintains a purebred dog registry, sanctions dog events, and promotes responsible dog ownership.
I joined the ACDCA (Australian Cattle Dog Club of America) and the ACDCGLA a Regional Club, following a code of Ethics with these clubs and am a Breeder of Merit with AKC.
We strongly promote the genetic testing and certification through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, (OFA).
Our Cattle Dogs will have CAER (formerly called CERF), PRCD, rcd-4 PRA (late onset PRCD) and PLL for the eyes, DM, MC, Collie Eye Anomaly, MDR1, Cystinuria, NCL 5 &12 x-rays of elbows and hips, dentition and patella evaluation, BAER neurological hearing tests and we will not breed ACD's that don't meet our high standards or compliment our lines.

To pass a test and meet such high standards is not easy, but it's the only way we can successfully promote a healthy future for our ACD's. It by no means is a guarantee of perfection, but it sure lowers the percentages of deafness, blindness and unsoundness in our future generations. Healthy, happy ACD's are our first priority.
My Crew,
Our History....
I spent a few years researching the breed and understanding their needs and I was given the opportunity to own a registered ACD. I spayed my ACD, "Emmy", then started her in agility classes and found myself amazed at her tenacity and need to please. This is how I came up with "Sugar-N-Spice" as a name. The bloodlines I have are gentle and sweet, yet hard working and tenacious.
FAST FORWARD: After giving Emmy a great home and a healthy active lifestyle here at the Bent Rail Ranch, I was approached by her breeder and given the opportunity to take her parents. They fit in beautifully and had a final litter of 3 pups before I retired this older couple from breeding. This litter was lovingly raised in our home and socialized with other animals including chickens, cats and horses. I kept one of the pups and named her "Fergie". We started her in classes as soon as she was through with her puppy vaccinations and found she had a nice confirmation and a gorgeous red coat, as did her siblings. This seemed to hold strong to her lines, which you can see in pictures on the "Gallery" page. She became a Grand Champion Show dog before the age of 3 years. Fergie had 4 litters was spayed and retired. Check out our "Past Litters" page to see their pictures. All were sold basically before birth, it was just a matter of matching puppy personalities to homes. We usually choose which pup best fits to our future families homes, by sex, lifestyle, color, personality, etc. Feel free to contact us and discuss our future litters. Cummins, Fergie's son has some planned breeding's. You may also contact us for help with your ACD questions. If we don't have the answers, we will try to help you find the answers.
All of our puppies get a lot of individual attention and handling until they are old enough to leave for their new homes. This creates a great foundation for their future, whether they become a companion pet, a working/herding dog, agility or show dog.
Presently...
Covid 19 has created a real mess with our ability to show our dogs. All of our 2021 spring dog shows in Arizona were cancelled. We are hesitant to go out of State at this time for shows due to the different restrictions in each State and when a dog show is cancelled there is no refund if it's cancelled 2 weeks prior to the show. We gotten our older girls back in the ring now that the shows have come back to Arizona. In the meantime, we have taken our non Champion bitches to other well versed breeders and professional handlers for opinions on overall conformation and head structure. We take their criticism seriously and make a decision to breed to compliment their structure or not to breed at all. We are not selling pups to people who are bored and "home temporarily because of Covid" so they can just return back to work to leave a dog alone. ACD's are destructive when left to their own devices.

Miley, as a puppy, visiting my Grandmother, they both fell in love with one another!
